Principal's Bio
Kayla Shadwell
Kayla Shadwell was named the Principal of Lexington Middle School in the spring of 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Shadwell is a 1995 Troup High School graduate. She earned a Bachelor’s in Family and Consumer Science from Texas Woman’s University in 2003. Mrs. Shadwell has taught special education at the intermediate level, family and consumer science, special education/behavior, and DAEP/electives, assistant coach for soccer and cross country at the high school level. She has also served as an ARD/504 facilitator, as well as a high school testing coordinator. She graduated in 2011 from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Shadwell’s previous school administrator experience includes serving as the Assistant Principal at Lexington Elementary for the last two years.
Mrs. Shadwell is married to Colin Shadwell, who is also in education and serves as the Lieutenant for Bastrop ISD Police Department. Together, they have three grown children and one daughter-in-law. She enjoys visiting new places, cruising, fishing, sewing, antiquing, and thrift shopping.
